Sister Gertrude's Angel

Sister Gertrude Morgan was a very prolific painter and a very free brush stroker who had complete confidence in her every movement of the paint brush. Her angel paintings have an immediate effect as soon as the brush hit the canvas or paper, as if her spirit was more in charge than her brain. I believe that I had the same kind of energy as I painted this Gertrude inspired angel on this quilt. In fact, I gave up on the brushes and painted the finishing touches onto the surface with my bare hands! I felt just great with the results!
